Last week, I was enjoying my morning ritual of coffee with Robin Meade and Morning Express on HLN, when I saw a short piece by Jennifer Westhoven that I really just couldn’t believe. Her story was one in a series of stories about the best upgrades for selling your house quickly (something near and dear to my heart), and in this morning’s story she made the assertion that stainless steel refrigerators, which have been a must-have item in any high-end home for over a decade, are on the way out. (You can see her story at HLN )
Jennifer didn’t really offer any evidence to back her “white is the new stainless” assertion, and I thought her statement that appliance fashion was being driven by the stark white of Apple products (like iPads and iPhones) was a bit weak. But I also know that fashion trends start on the coasts in U.S. and work their way slowly to the heartland, so I wanted to see if there was any evidence that stainless is on the way out. I quickly found a couple of stories that seem to back Jennifer’s claim that stainless may be soon pushed aside:
So what do you think? Is stainless still the way to go? If you were going to do a kitchen makeover, would go with white or stainless? If you were looking for a new home, would stainless be a plus or a minus? I’d love to hear your thoughts below!
